Valuing difference is a core part of our culture at Barca-Leeds
We welcome people from diverse backgrounds and people with lived experience of the services we provide. We foster an inclusive environment, enabling our colleagues and volunteers to bring a diverse range of experiences and thoughts.
We are proud to be inclusive and committed to:
- Creating safe spaces in our workplaces including quiet rooms for prayer and gender neutral toilets.
- Raising awareness and knowledge of a diverse range of dates and causes amongst staff including Ramadan, Black History Month, Pride, Disability Inclusion Month and Neurodiversity Awareness; all of which are staff led.
- Encouraging the use of pronouns in email signatures and meetings.
- Having a robust training offer for all staff on Equality & Diversity, Unconscious Bias and Anti-Racism.
Our networks
Our staff groups and initiatives offer a range of activities that enable and empower staff to lead on issues that are important to them. Three staff-led groups manifest our culture and ethos in action:

Respect@Barca
This staff group helps to develop and deliver on all aspects of our equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) related policy and strategy. They help raise awareness of EDI issues and calendar events throughout the year.

Barca Minds
Our staff peer support group focusing on different aspects of wellbeing. The group organises various initiatives including; Wellbeing Wednesdays, Carers group and our Wellbeing Champions group.

Green Leads
Leads our organisational commitment to minimising our impact upon the environment and developing a more sustainable approach to delivering our services. They meet to share good ideas and practice.
