School Counsellor
What will the role look like?
Barca are looking to recruit a qualified level 4+ children and young people
counsellor for a 12 month fixed contract to deliver support for those attending an
alternative learning provider. The provider is a charitable organisation delivering education, coaching, youth work and community work to people across Leeds and the surrounding areas.
Part of the charitable organisation's work is a small, independent school that
specialises in supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental
Health (SEMH) needs. They offer full time and personalised placements to 11- 16 year olds including as a named provision on a young person’s EHCP and as alternative provision for those referred by their host school. Their mission is to provide a safe, engaging and inclusive environment, whilst reducing inequality and raising aspirations through the use of sports and education.
Through commissioning BARCA’s counselling services the alternative learning
provider will further enable students access the school environment and build
engagement in education.
What we are looking for?
Level 4+ counsellors with additional training, skills and experience of working
with young people with additional needs. We are particularly keen to hear
from those counsellors who have experience of working with young people
with those identifying as having Neurodivergent traits or characteristics.
This role would suit a counsellor who is comfortable and adept at adapting
the way they work to engage with young people in creative ways where
needed.
